Business Area Haasrode is, like many other business areas, faced with several mobility problems: too many cars, problematic accessibility by public transport, no comfortable cycle network and no train station in the nearby area. This results in long waiting times for cars, cut-through traffic in the area and of course discontent commuters.
To address this issue M-App, a GPS app, is launched. The app automatically records your daily home-work trip with all the Point of Interest (school children, shops, ....): Route, mode, duration, delays etc ... Where are the bottlenecks for the different modes? You track, M-App detects, everyone learns (companies, governments and employees). In this sense, commuters give input to policy makers and other actors. M-App is a participatory platform for employees.
M-App also advises. It advises you to try something different. Another route, a different time, a different way of moving. Launch the app, choose a pre-registered location (eg. Your workplace, school children ...) and you get different multimodal advices. You can choose what you find the most important: time, distance or CO2 emissions (and cost and calories?). Plus you get a historical overview of your home-work trips.

Caution: continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
